Precision Fermentation

Precision fermentation uses genetically engineered microbes to produce proteins that are bioidentical to those found in animal products. The technology is also used to produce certain fats and functional ingredients for food, beauty, and medical applications.

Since precision fermentation requires almost no land and substantially fewer resources than traditional agriculture would for the same nutrients, this technology might be the key to achieving food security.
